A woman is set to spark a fitness revolution in Corby and shes hoping her vision will make people in the town happier and healthier.
Debbie Deathridge is opening the Fitness Factory in former town centre offices in Elizabeth Street.
And Debbie, a qualified personal trainer who has sunk her life savings into the project, aims to encourage whole families to be fitter and to enjoy leading active lives.
She said: “This has been a dream of mine for almost 10 years.
“I don’t want the Fitness Factory to be just another gym with rows of treadmills. I want it to be a real hub of the community and a place where mum, dad and the children can come along and have fun. Corby has had more than its share of health problems and sometimes people can lack the confidence to learn new things.
“I’m hoping that we can help people feel great and get the best out of their lives.”
The Fitness Factory, in former solicitors’ offices, is being transformed in time for the January 4 opening.
Debbie, 44, who lives in Gretton with her husband and two-year-old son Lucas, is giving up her full-time job as a food buyer to make her dream come true. She said: “I’ve hand-picked a great team of people who will be working with me and together we hope to show people how much fun being healthy can be.
“My vision is to have families coming to the Fitness Factory together with mum enjoying the ladies-only circuit, the kids having fun at Zumba or street dance classes and dad in the gym with the weights. We’re all really excited about the project and can’t wait to open.”
As well as the ladies-only circuit and gym, the Fitness Factory will boast a dance studio, health and beauty suite and vibro studio.
It will also include a tanning room, showers and a reception area where people will be able to take advantage of information on nutrition and staying healthy.
There will even be exercise and movement classes for babies and toddlers, as well as advice and help for patients referred to the Fitness Factory by their GP.
Debbie said: “We will be here for the community and we want to be part of the community. We’ll be holding activities and events for charity.”
